CPPA Announces Cooperation with French Data Protection Authority (CNIL)

The CPPA and the CNIL jointly signed a declaration of cooperation on June 25th 2024 in Paris. This agreement will allow us to strengthen our understanding of new technologies and to help face together the challenges for Californian and French citizens’ data privacy.

Mr Ashkan SOLTANI, Executive Director of the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA – California, United States of America) and Ms Marie-Laure DENIS, President of the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL - France), have signed on the 25th of June a declaration of cooperation that will allow both authorities:

  • to carry out joint research related to new technologies and data protection issues
  • to share their best practices and experiences including in the course of their investigations and
  • to organize joint training workshops

This partnership will be an opportunity to build a strong institutional and human links between the CPPA and the CNIL through common projects, allowing us to strengthen their understanding of new technologies and to help face together the challenges presented by the protection of personal data of Californian and French citizens.

 

We’re pleased to collaborate with the CNIL and pave the way for information sharing on areas of mutual interest. We look forward to a productive exchange in the years to come, with our appreciation to the CNIL.

This agreement opens a new chapter of cooperation between the CPPA and the CNIL. We are looking forward to working together on common research projects, to exchanging good practices or to sharing experiences. Data circulation on a global scale requires such an approach to go beyond the national and European framework.
